Review: Sally Hansen Crackle

So while at Ulta the other day I was looking at nail polish. I went there looking for a certain color, and I found it. Then I spotted the Sally Hansen Crackle polishes. I quickly picked one up and put my first color choice back on the shelf. I put myself on a spending limit for this trip so I couldn't purchase both. I was very excited to finally get my hands on a crackle nail polish. I can't tell you how many videos I've seen and how many blogs I've read where people are going crazy over this kind of polish. I just had to try it to see what all the hype was about.  I was so excited when I got home that I just had to try it out. So I put a coat over the polish I already had on. Which was China Glaze For Audrey in case you were wondering. I loved watching it  crackle, and fell in love with it!
Later that night I took off my polish and did them all over. This time I chose Shocking Pink by China Glaze. Hot pink and black is my favorite color combo ever! So again I was very excited. I waited for the pink color to dry, and then began using my crackle nail polish. I loved it....at first.
I feel like you have to work really fast, because it starts to crackle almost instantly. You also don't get much product on the brush...or at least not as much as I wanted. I was fine with my end result and I liked it. Which brings us to today...which was day 2. I kept looking on my nails not really sure what to think about it. The excitement wore off and I'm pretty much over it. I'm disappointed with the application of this polish and how sloppy it ended up looking. I think this crackle look looks great, but I don't think it's for me. I do plan on trying it again with a different color under it, but for now I don't think this look is for me.

  1. I've heard that the Sally Hansen crackles aren't the best to work with.. period. And from the pictures and reviews I've seen.. the SH crackle polish looks clumpy, thick and.. of a lesser quality than say OPI or China Glaze.

You might still love the crackle effect, just with a different brand? Not to knock your purchase in any way, but I personally wouldn't purchase a SH crackle. :\

I say buy one more bottle of a different brand (for me CG > OPI) and see what you think. You can always take it back if your opinion doesn't change. ♥
